Navel Gazing

‘Navel Gazing’ explores the literal and conceptual theme of the navel: as one’s torso and/or belly button, as a central formal point in a composition, as a mythological beginning or center, and idiomatically as “navel gazing,” or the tendency towards self-indulgence and obsession.

Nine contemporary artists from New York Studio School explore the theme via self-portraiture and abstraction, beach scenes and still-life, drawing, painting and sculpture. Please join us for an opening reception with the artists on Friday, 10/3 from 6-8pm.
