Svetlana Alpers is an art historian, critic, Professor emerita from UC Berkeley and Visiting Scholar, New York University. An accomplished author, books include The Art of Describing(1983), Rembrant’s Enterprise (1988), The Vexations of Art (2005), and most recently, Roof Life (2013).
