Sabine Rewald: Balthus’s Cats and Girls

Jacques and Natasha Gelman Curator, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. Recent exhibitions at the MMA include Rooms with a View: The Open Window in 19th Century Art, 2011; Glitter and Doom: German Portraits of the 1920s, 2006; and Max Ernst Retrospective, 2005. Also, at the Museum Ludwig, Cologne in 2007, Balthus: Aufgehohene Zeit. Bilder und Zeichnungen,1932 – 1960. This lecture coincides with Balthus:Cats and Girls-Paintings and Provocations, curated by Ms. Rewald  September 25, 2013 through January 12, 2014, at the MMA.
