Artist. Originally from Los Angeles, Martin Kersels recently joined the faculty of Yale School of Art, becoming director of the Sculpture Program. His work ranges from collaborative performances with the group SHRIMPS (1984-1993) to large-scale sculptures: Tumble Room (2001). Kersels’ objects and projects have been exhibited internationally, including the Whitney Biennial (1997, 2010); the Pompidou Center, MOCA Los Angeles; and the Tinguely Museum, Kunsthalle Bern. A survey of his work, Heavyweight Champion, was organized and exhibited by the Tang Museum in 2007 and the Santa Monica Museum in 2008.
