Luis Pérez-Oramas was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and received his PhD in Art History at the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. In 2003 he became Adjunct Curator at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and in 2006, was appointed The Estrellita Brodsky Curator of Latin American Art at MoMA. Pérez-Oramas has organized many exhibitions at MoMA, including Transforming Chronologies: An Atlas of Drawings (2006); Tangled Alphabets: León Ferrari and Mira Schendel (2009); Lygia Clark: The Abandonment of Art, 1948-1988 (2014); and most recently Joaquín Torres-García: The Arcadian Modern (2015).
