David Carrier has published books about Nicolas Poussin and Sean Scully; the methods of art history; a world art history; the art museum and, with Darren Jones, the contemporary art gallery. With Joachim Pissarro he has co-authored two books about art from outside the art world. His criticism appears in Brooklyn Rail and Hyperallergic. He is working on a book about the historic center of Naples.

Joseph Masheck, art historian and critic, was born in New York and studied at Columbia and Trinity College Dublin, and was editor-in-chiefof Artforum in 1977-80. A Guggenheim fellow and twice a visiting fellow at Cambridge, he is a consulting editor of The Brooklyn Rail, which published his book of essays Texts on (Texts on) Art. Masheck received the College Art Association’s Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing on Art in 2018.
