Judith Dolkart: To See as the Artist Sees, Albert C. Barnes and the Experiment in Education

The Evening Lecture Series is free and open to the public. With inquiries, please contact Kara Carmack at kcarmack@nyss.org.

Deputy Director of the art and archival collections, and Gund Family Chief Curator at the Barnes Foundation. Joining in 2010, Ms. Dolkart helped plan the relocation of the collections to downtown Philadelphia. Under her stewardship, the Barnes launched an exhibition program and published three books in 2012, notably The Barnes Foundation: Masterworks and Renoir in the Barnes Foundation 2009.  This lecture will explore Barnes’s approach to collecting and display, as well as the recent reinstallation-which precisely replicates the hang in a new facility designed by Tod Williams and Billie Tsien Architects.
