Arthur Wheelock: Balancing Permanence and Transience, Vermeer and his Woman in Blue Reading a Letter

Arthur Wheelock is curator of Northern Baroque Painting at the National Gallery of Art and professor of art history at the University of Maryland. He has lectured widely on Dutch and Flemish art and is the recipient of many awards including the Johannes Vermeer Prize for Achievement in Dutch Art, the Kellogg Award from Williams College in honor of his distinguished career, and was named a Knight Officer by the Dutch government. Wheelock has also organized numerous major exhibitions at the NGA, most recently Pleasure and Piety: The Art of Joachim Wtewael (1566 – 1638).
