Amy Bennett will discuss her paintings as they relate to themes of family, isolation, empathy, and fiction. She will share her process of model making as reference material for her work, and a tool for sketching in 3D. 

Amy Bennett (b. 1977) received her BFA in 1999 from the University of Hartford, CT and her MFA in 2002 from the New York Academy of Art.

Bennett has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions at Miles McEnery Gallery, New York, NY; Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; Galleri Magnus Karlsson, Stockholm, Sweden; and Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo, Japan.

Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York, NY; Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT; The FLAG Art Foundation, New York, NY; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Boston, MA, and elsewhere.

Bennett has a permanent mosaic installation in Brooklyn, NY in conjunction with MTA Arts & Design. Other awards include the New York State Council on the Arts’ Painting Fellowship; John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fine Arts Fellowship; and the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Purchase Award, among others.

Her work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Boston, MA.
