Aimée Brown Price , Art Historian

Aimée Brown Price received her Ph.D from Yale University, and has taught widely in the United States, including at the California Institute of Technology; CUNY Graduate Center; Queens College, and Princeton University. She has lectured both nationally and internationally, including at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities; the National Gallery of Art, London; The Power Institute, Sydney and the Institut d'art et d'archéologie, Paris. Price has published in Art in America, The Art Bulletin, The Burlington Magazine, the Gazette des Beaux-Arts and numerous exhibition catalogues. Her field of speciality is nineteenth-century art, but she is also interested in a range of issues from mural painting and modern allegorical figures to caricature and smiles in portraiture. An authority on the French painter Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, as guest curator she organized a major exhibition of his work for the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam and is author of a forthcoming two-volume book on the artist, to be published by Yale University Press.
